There are over 1200 different species of bamboo in the world but only a few of these are used by the worlds economy. We stock the two most popular species:

• Tonkin Canes, available in lengths of 3ft -10ft and diameters of 10-18mm are commercially used as support for plants. This species is popular as it has a lower sugar content and a higher fibre density. It also has smoother joints and a brighter colour and the canes are said to be straighter and stronger than canes of other bamboo species.
   

• Mao (MOSO) canes in lengths of 6ft-10ft and diameters of 30mm-115mm are used mainly for construction and decorative purposes due to their wider diameter.
